Dec and Jan are very cold but amazing times to go. As long as you got the right amount of clothes on you should be fine.

Have been to Banff the last 2 years and am going again in Jan, can't get enough of it, guaranteed snow!!!!!

Have only been to Banff so can't comment on any of the others but the transfer is only about 90mins which is perfect.

Brad

We went to Whistler at Christmas...it was -19 for a couple of the days I know it sounds silly but it's a different kind of cold...it just didn't seem that cold. If you start to feel cold at any point there will be a mountain cafe very nearby and they are all toasty warm...a hot drink laced with something nice ...and five minutes later you are on your way. (Mountain cafes much cheaper than Borovets!)

Whistler Jan 2003, it was -19 and then there was a wind chill on top. I boarded from the top of ego bowl to the bottom chairlift and couldnt talk, my face was frozen. But what a ride Razz I bought one of those ski masks that make you look like a serial killer, nice and snug in a scary way.

So much snow - but very icy on the Blacks (Dave Murray Downhill was murder, on my bum all the way down)

I've never seen anything to match Whistler Blackcomb, loads of runs for all levels and a great ski and snowboarding school - perfect for families.

But when I went it was way expensive, however with exchange rates as they are value will be better

i was in banff in jan, it was normally about -10 which is ok but there were a couple of days where it reached -30 with wind chill, the year before i went end of feb and the temp was a lot better but you enjoy yourself to much to feel the cold.

re: advice please on canada

Ive been to Boro for the last 4 years and loved it but always had the worry we all have leading up to it with the amount of snow etc so this year i thought i would leave it to the last minute to book to get the best snow.
I ended up getting a week in Fernie for myself and my daughter for £690 inc flights, transfer and a catered chalet.
The snow was nothing like i have ever seen before as it dumped nearly 2 ft in 4 hours overnight and the powder was awsome.
I am not slagging down Boro as i ...

I am not slagging down Boro as i have a soft spot for the place and will go again but the worry i have is all the various people giving bad reviews about Bulgaria and i dont think it deserves that.
All in all Canada is wicked if you can put up with the long flights and 3+ hour transfer but it is more that worth it but Boro as i said is worth a visit so wherever you all end up going be safe and enjoy Very Happy
