Alex, is the transfer to Bansko 8hrs? We're off on the 14th Jan arriving at sofia airport.

Donna, No idea.

Im off to Bansko on the 30th and flying into Sofia. If Sofia gets shut im not looking forward to a long transfer as we land at about 11pm and id like to sleep at some point so ill be ready to ride the next day.

I've been told that the Sofia - Bansko transfer is about 2 - 2 1/2 hours

There's a report on here (posted by GeoffCarrick) saying that Sofia Airport opened at Noon. If that's true you all should be ok.

dont know why you all concererned about sofia airport being closed! Unless you are flying out this evening, it should be no problem!!!

more a problem when travelling home we were there xmas 2003 sofia shut and every one was on bus for at least 8 hour journey.no warning had booked trip to sophia for last day only got wind of what was going on at breakfast had about 2 hours to pack absolute nightmare with our kids were given no complementry drinks or food on tripfor the in convience but hey go back on7 jan 2006 forgot to mention was not snow that made sophia close it was fog it cant cope to well !
