re: alps v bulgaria

Have been to Pamps twice, this year we went to Serre Chevalier in France. Got a great deal stayed in 3 star catered chalet great food and free wine in the evening. Paid £300 each with ski pass at £125 each but this gave us 4 ski areas totalling 250km. Fantastic runs all well kept and no I did not think it was expensive paying on average £2.30 per pint food always hot and plenty of it. Great people, given the choice I don't think I would go back to Bulgaria in a hurry, there are some great ...

Went to borovets Jan last year then went to Meribel last Feb. The skiing was fantastic in Meribel but to be honest Borovets was a lot more fun. The nightlife in Bulgaria and the people there are what makes Bulgaria a great place to go. Cant go this year and really missing the place...

I'm just back from a fantastic week in Montgenvre, France. No queues, all the lifts worked, 400 km of piste, 1.5 hr flight, 1.5 hour transfer and all for less than I paid to Bansko last year.

At New Year went to Pamps, 3 hr flight, 5.5 hr transfer, the main 4 man lift broke, 22 people in each beginners group, had to pay 14 lev each way taxi to town to get a cheap beer!

However did enjoy learning in Boro, for 3 yrs previous when I didn't know any different, with the great blackpool on ...

We went to Courmayeur in Italy in jan and it was a great holiday and wasn't that much more than we paid for the Hotel Pamps in Jan 2006.However we have booked a cheapie to Pamps for March as an extra treat.I think Bulgarians have to be careful not to price themselves out of the market now they are in the EU as there is plenty of competition out there.I think it is safe to say that hotel and food standards are generally higher in the alps.Yes it is more expensive than BG but ...

if your looking at buying property, unless you have around a 1/4 of a millon i would forget most of the alps, return wise it would pay for it self but you need at least that much. If you want somthing cheaper then bulgaria is your best bet. You are likely to make more over time there as well, personally I wouldnt buy in either I like meals ect done for me with out having to go out after a day on the slopes.
