Its time for the staff and unions at BA to come into the real world, in order to survive they need to be competetive, we have all had to do that, they think they can remain getting the high overtime rates and bonus system that has been in place for years. It is not a 30% cut in pay, do not be fooled by union hype, it is more a bringing into line pay and allowances to remain competitive in the avaition market.

Staff and unions have to wake up to that fact or suffer the consequences, or are they all cynically hoping for massive redundancy payoffs?.
Wake up and join us in the real world before its too late.
Pension defecit £3.7billion
Market Cap £2.4billion
Predicted Full year loss £450million on top of last years £150million.
BA have to cut £150million of costs or up price increases are just not going to happen and the public will vote with their feet. So its cost cutting and where can you cut costs? Staff. Especially when they benchmark against the competition.

This strike could actually cause the very sudden end of BA its liabilities are vastly more than its worth and unless it can get shareholder cash injection to the tune of a couple of billion to close the hole then they are in a real pickle.
Other thing - its madness going on strike in the deepest recession since the 1930's... millions out of work desperate for a job and these fools here not seeing the bigger picture could very well put the nail in their own coffin.
Oh forget about big redundancies it would be statutory pay off as the company is in effect bankrupt there is nowhere the cash is coming from.
Not very well thought out by the unions or the staff, I hope when they eventually lose their jobs they look back and think how could we have neen so selfish, I cant see them getting much support from the public its downright greed.
In this day and age most of these strikes are a carrot to the work shy rather than striking for any logical reason. Many of these staff are more than happy to strike for no other reason than it being a free holiday. Might find they're waking up to a permanent unpaid holiday come the new year though, and although it's hard not to sympathise when people have to take a cut in pay, but you have to live in the real world sometimes. It's not i highly skilled job as is proven by the fact that if it ...

they are lucky to have a job if i was the boss i would say back to work or else im sure many of our polish and eastern european friends would do a better job
Sack em all... we have enough un-employed to replace the lot. We booked with BA to support our economy but stuff them now... i know BA are trying to get thru the recession the best way they can, but the staff and unions should think themselves lucky to have good jobs !!! anyway that of my chest fingers crossed you all get away and frolick in the snow...as planned..
