our instructor was called Vlad and he was excellent. He does takes things slowly and is a bit of a perfectionist but i think i will be a better skier because of him as we learnt the basics throughly like snow plough turns. There were other begginner classes that seemed to do much more earlier on and went on the blues runs earlier but i am not too bothered by that as i was pleased with my progress. I think we were very lucky as i did hear about a few bad instructors. One guy in our class decided to try snowboading for a day and hired the equipment and an instructor for a hour. After 10 min the instructor told him he was going off with his friends down the slopes and left him and cheekily told him he expects a tip at the end of it!!!! Vlad was good has always did the min of 4 hours a day and often a few of us would ask to do more after 3.00pm and he would always come with us down the slopes after the official 4 hours!! Def recommend him.

There was also another couple that we met in the hotel who had two small children. They were not happy with the instructors and they were going to be spilt up which they did not want to be and they did not ski for the first day beacuse of there instructor. They sopke to Nielson reps and by day two they had there own ski instructor at no extra cost!!! If you are not happy with your instructors always speak to your reps they will try and organise something for you - we had Nielson reps and they were excellent!!! The best reps i have ever come across on any holiday i have been on - they will help you as much as you can.

I think i would have liked to have had a go at a dry slope beforehand purely just to see what it feels like to have skis on your feet and do the basic stopping excercises - however the ones that did go on dry slopes beforehand were only really a day ahead from everyone else on our group so it is up to you. You all end up at the same stage by the end of the week.
