balken holidays

if anybody is thinking of going to bulgaria dont book with balken holidays ,they have changed our flight now 4 weeks to go they tell us our chalet is double booked .they moved us 2km away with no transport we have to pay our own buses and taxis.no chance of a refund becouse they can offer a chalet 2km away,we booked this 8 months ago.this is our first time in bulgaria we normaly go to canada where in 7 years never had a problem.

re: balken holidays

Don't knock Bulgaria but I too have had my doubts about Balkan holidays although many people find them OK. I went with Neilsen to Bansko last season and had a great time. Personally I would always go with a UK tour operator.

re: balken holidays

im flying out with Balkan on 14th jan and we just found out we had to change to belfast to dublin airport although they are paying for the coach to and from dublin!i think this is a good idea as im used to dublin.

re: balken holidays

We went to bansko with Balkan last year and they were fine - going again with them this year - just make sure you know whether you are on a chartered or scheduled flight!! the chartered ones we found were grotty but scheduled were ok!

re: balken holidays

See a previous posting of mine.

We've never had our accommodation changed and never had our flight times changed in four years of booking with Balkan.

The only time I've ever complained about accommodation was one year in Borovets and we were travelling with First Choice. So we now will only book with Balkan.

The flights maybe basic, but I don't mind this when the holiday cost is a lot less when booking with Balkan.

re: balken holidays

well snap 3rd year in a row and no issues. Had our flight times and destination changed once, but this was not a problem. Planes are a little........ basic, engines and wings but always a good flight. Dont expect any in flight entertainment films etc or music lol.

re: balken holidays

just make sure you dont book artist impression hotels from their brochure as you are more likely to get an accomodation change as we did last year - as it was it was a better option and we would not have picked it ourselves, so balkan did us a favour!!

re: balken holidays

See previous posting Jay we booked 8 months ago and we've had our accomadation and flight changed. We had trouble with them in march too. Have travelled with Thomson without a hitch in the past.
On a happier note Bulgaria is great place to ski.

re: balken holidays

This made me smile - yes, engines and wing usually help!

Razz Razz

I have been Balkan a couple of times and am booked to go again this March - touch wood - no problems as yet. Yes, basic, but to be honest, I am SO looking forward to the skiing (and usually have plenty to keep me occupied - a young child!, CD player, book or so on) that I never really notice.

Cheers
