end of our week on bansko. Tired and achy, in a satisfied kind of way. Kids - 15 and 11 years - did la tombe for the first time today. Wife got stretchered off the mountain a couple of days ago. All in all a great trip. Fresh snow every other day. Ski class went off piste dodging trees in fresh powder on several days. Slushy snow lower down created dangerous conditions at times. Please take advantage."
Haha, the translation thing brings back memories. Our favourite this year was 'meat slush chicken and pork with vegetables big'. It turned out to be a chicken, pork and vegetable skewer!!
slush starts where runs 5,10 meet with the bottom of the adjacent red run (3 I think). First thing its fine but it quickly gets churned into dense slush. Not a problem so long as you take it easy. Wouldn't bother with anything lower after mid morning, but the snow road has been ok, perhaps because of the snow cannons. Havent been on the slopes today but camera showing gondola station looked a bit ropey this morning. High up the snow is so deep only the tops of the trees are sticking out. ...

Must be at least a couple of metres deep, so no worries. Try a little trip in amongst them, alongside the 'funpark'. Great laugh!
thanks pete I wondered that too & it was me who got stretched off - although I think he's broken a rib so I haven't been to hard on him. At least the kids survived intact despite doing the tomba run (black) twice while I sat nursing injured knee watching them
Yes, Ross, I have consulted my bag of feathers and worn pebbles, and they indicate there will definitely be snow on top of the mountain during the week of March 22nd. Lower down the mountain there will not be snow. So long as the winds at the top aren't strong enough to stop the chair lifts, I predict you'll have lots of fun skiing. But if you're advanced enough to require a whole mountain to go at, or too inexperienced to tackle blue runs with an instructor, I suspect you may get ...

Then again, the pebbles may be wrong, and there may be a huge dump of the white stuff everywhere.
Pete - The extended shriek as she slid down the mountain, heading for the woods, with one leg out of action, was highly entertaining. Unfortunately the mishap resulted in the loss of a morning's skiing whilst we waited for a red cross skidoo, and went through the motions of getting her to the medical station, but luckily I was back on the slopes after lunch, so it wasn't too much of a problem.
I forget which run. It's a short red that ends at the height the slush was starting last week. The end of 5 & 10 is just to the left, out of picture. Can't help noticing it's considerably worse than it was last week, but there's loads more mountain above it.
