beginners lessons or intermediate?

hi, am thinking of taking my girls to Pamps this season, went to Borovets in Feb with Balkan holidays and had a fab time. We hadnt skiied before and had a week of beginners lessons. by the end of the week the girls were happily skiing down blue runs and i was struggling but just about managing to stay upright.... We are hoping to go to Pamporovo this season and i noticed that if we travel with Crystal Ski they do beginners as well as intermediate lessons. Which would you suggest we do? ie ...

Which would you suggest we do? ie how good do you have to be to be classed as intermediate? sorry if i sound like a dunce..

re: beginners lessons or intermediate?

Caroline wat you have do if you go back in the begineers class may bore you because you will be walking and doing snow ploughs etc. So if you are confident enough go for the intermediates if your instrutor doesnt think you are up to it he always put you back with begineers.
my wife has been a begineer for the last three years i dont think she will ever master the slopes God bless her Wink

re: beginners lessons or intermediate?

If you have skied before and you know how to snowplough turn and stop then my advice would be to go in the intermediate class as the beginners class is, generally, people that have never skied before and you may feel a bit "held back". Saying that, the instructors are very good at making sure you are in the correct class on the first day.

Happy skiing. Very Happy

Go for the intermediate lessons.

Begginers lesson are always full of peolple who have never stood on skis before and i dare say you will feel a little held back there.

If you are lacking in confidence, fear not! The ski school set-up is pretty relaxed in pamps. if you say you have skied before, you will be given an assessment. Don't panic, this is not a test. You will be simply asked to ski down a short run on a green slope and, if you can, perform a couple of your best turns. You will then be placed in a group thats suits your level of ability. Here you'll be in a group of people with a similar level of ability. In my view, this is when you will improve your skiing dramatically and your confidence will grow!

If you are still a little nervous, i can highly reccommend having a quick refresher lesson at one of the uk's indoor snow domes a week or so before you go.

re: beginners lessons or intermediate?

hi, the slopes at pamps are alot easier for beginner to intermediate. i would go to intermediate as the instructors are great and they will put you into a group that best suits your ability with people of the same ability. you wont get much benefit going back to beginner just alot of standing about.

re: beginners lessons or intermediate?

Book lessons and equipment with Interski, slightly more expensive but worth every lev, skiing green run from top to bottom 1st ever day of skiing!
You can ski as a family and they will gear the day to your ability so it does not matter what level you are at.

re: beginners lessons or intermediate?

My 2nd year I was much more reticent than my daughters
Treat yeourself to a couple of dry slope lessons if you have one near just to build up your confidence
I ended up in a different group but was in a well matched group and oh did we have a laugh - so dont worry just enjoy. If you have maria as a ski instructor tell her her fame as a ski instructor is spreading, she was great

re: beginners lessons or intermediate?

i have been to the one at southampton before, but found it really difficult, just wasnt the same lol... I think part of the problem when we were in Borovets was that we had a mixed group of mainly young children and other people in their 20s. I was the oldest there bar one, being nearly 40.... We were really pushed to move on to the next step each day, and i got further and further behind. If we couldnt keep up we were simply left behind. Maybe there will be a class for oldies when i go ...
