boro review

Hi all

Just returned from Borovets and decided to leave my opinion on the resort. stayed at the Rila which was a nice hotel, warm enough, good facilities, poor food (as expected) and great location to the lifts.

Hi all

Really dissapointed with skiing conditions on first day but had good snowfalls throughout the week to massively improve conditions with best snow to be found obviously at the top of the mountain around the markujik area. It had a nice blend of easy/intermediate slopes with nothing really testing other than a few off piste areas. most of the family and friends that came along had no experience at all so had lessons with borosports, i was quite worried by this as i had heard bad things on previous posts. I soon learned otherwise they had an instructer called Stefan who was an absolute credit to borosport and every single family member had a fantastic time!
Every meal that we ate out was good with the best of which being a place called the Derby, allthough its prob best to try a few and make your own mind up.
Only negative for the resort is the change booths which you must stay well clear of as they are a big con!! they advertise one exchange rate outside then once you hand money over they give another much lower claiming this is what they offered. Once you refuse this rate and ask for your money back you will be greeted by numerous locals that appear out of nowhere to make sure there is no trouble and you take the rate offered. If you need to change money use the cash machine outside the rila or the bank this is attached to.

Overall best holiday i've had in years will definately revisit this resort.

Sounds like Boro has woven her spell again Very Happy Very Happy It's not perfect but I think has a unique charm, especially when the snow arrives.

Did you feel that reviews and advice on here matched your findings or do we have too thick rose tinted glasses Question

re: boro review

I did ask what i would be recieving for my £40 lady in booth told me 80 lev only 64 was given back to me. when i refused this amount things got unpleasant and she denied offering me 80, luckily it was only a small amount of money. I wouldnt normally use these and but didnt want to walk across to the bank with ski boots on. Never mind lesson learnt

re: boro review

You only lost £8 - Friend of mine got pic pocketed in Palma. Lost about £80 - and it wasn't insured!! He was sure it was a Romany type who was trying to force him to by a carnation. Police werent inerested either. Exclamation

re: boro review

It was the principle of it that annoyed me, if she had told me that was the rate i prob would of taken it anyway for the sake of walking up to the bank. It was the only negative of a great holiday just want to make sure people are aware of what could happen if they are changing bigger amounts

Maybe it is me but I felt the food at the Rila was quite OK. The breakfast had all the cereals breads jam etc for a good continental with fruits yogurttoo. Chesese and meat and other cold cuts were ok as well. The hot food has grilled tomatoes beans fried or scrambled eggs and streaky bacon and frankfurters and fried eggy bread. In addition fresh pancakes were available throughout the service.

Cheese and cold cuts of wurst and spam type meats. Fresh pizza was cooked throught out the service. Chips were available. The deserts were tasty cakes and fruit. Drinks and cffe were extra. Bottle mineral water glass of wine and large beer 12 levs.
Ate in 5 out of 7 evenings.
