Hi,
I'm going to borovets at christmas. I wondered if anyone knows what the shops are like? Will I be able by to buy skiing equipment when there or should I buy it in Britain? Do you know if the skis, boots etc that you hire are of good quality? Staying at samokov.
Thankd

ski rental boots are of ancient style unless u are size 10or above, skis are of the same price as uk watch out for fakes, , buy in uk, i would suggest buying a pair of boots at snow & rock in uk great guarantee, buy boots before skis
thanks,
i've never been skiing and don't have a clue about equipment. If i buy boots here are they likely to have skis there that the boots will fit on?
the rental skis are old straights, but there are atomic carvers there, you have to ask if you want them as there will hand out straights first, the most ski wear on sale is fake and crap so buy in uk.
boots will fit on all skis as there are set up acording to your weight, height skiing ability, do not lie about this as it affects your binding setting,if this is your first time go with the rental boots and if you like the sport (i work & live to ski) then buy a pair.
atomic is the make of ski (my wife had these last year) and a carving ski as more of a side cut (wider at the top and tail than in the middle) this type of ski will do some of the work for you and will be easier to turn and use,
if you want any more info i will be on line at 6pm tomorrow, going to see the football now, i will look in then
bye
Goin over to ski lynne? bit hit and miss with the snow round that time, but hope its a white xmas for ya.
We hired our skis over there, and to be honest they were pretty crap. Metal showin through the bottom and everything. I had to beg to change my ski's later on because i was originally handed straights which were 180's (size) but hadnt noticed at the time with all the excitement.
I board now and dont ski but im 5 foot 6, 9.2 st and found that 150 carvers suited me best over the ...

I board now and dont ski but im 5 foot 6, 9.2 st and found that 150 carvers suited me best over the years. supposedly the actual way to measure what size of ski is suitable for you is to stand straight and measure from the ground to chin level (the skis i was originally handed WERE the right size for my height in that case but my personal preference is carving and with smaller skis)
