I have been told that holding your legs in the skiing position (ie- knees bent and body leaning slightly forward) for a couple of weeks before you go helps to strengthen the right muscles. Also people rave on about those cross trainer exercise machines. I guess the best thing is the real thing, after a couple of days my aches tend to go away. However, alcohol certainly does help as does a hot shower.
It takes about 2 hours to get to Borovets by coach from Sofia.
Sit in the sumo stance for as much as you can manage few times a day. Really builds up leg muscles. Think transfer time is quite short 45minutes approx.
definitely recommend sitting against a wall with your legs bent at 45 - 50 degrees. If you can manage 30 secs on your first go you'll be doing well. Feel those legs burn!!!! Replicates the real thing brilliantly....
just got back yesterday, takes 1 hr 30 mins to transfer unless you have a crazy driver!
best thing to stop aches and pains is to take pain killers each night, drink lots and after a couple of days you'll be fine. you can buy some over there that numb all pains. just ask in the shop. only take one unless your really hurt then take two but must be taken with food or they make you sick!
Best exercise for ski legs I have found is the sitting against a wall position try to get as close to 90 deg as is possible, really hurts but you know its doing good!
but for in resort aches and pains I agree with Alan then more
