Been travelling to Borovets for the last four years, always drank the tap water from my apartment. Crystal clear and never a problem, it is like it's straight from the mountains. Maybe i have a cast iron stomach!
Do they have a different source in the restaurants/bars?
Funnily enough we had lunch two weeks ago at the top near the gondola, the guy who served us made a point of opening the bottles of water in front of us instead of just putting them on the table. I had a quick thought ...

Advice given to us when travelling where you could not drink tap water was to always buy sparkling water.re: bottled water

We were told the water was safe to drink by our rep??we never did actually drink it tho

Tateyheed,Dont kid yourself that the tap water is straight off the mountain. Under European directives, Bulgaria are compelled to put all drinking water through a drinking water treatment plant. If you check through the statistics, Bulgaria have one of the worst records for water treatment in the whole of Europe.

Hi Charliemoonhead,Honestly, never had any problems. I always thought it tasted great!! Now that i think about it all water goes through treatment. Have you had any health probs with the water or anyone else have problems directly with tap water

When we went out my kids used to drink J20.But I found a cheaper alternative. Now they drink H20 (tap variety).

The water here is perfectly safe to drink, as is most from springs on the mountain. The only problem is that the water is very heavy in minerals, and can effect some peoples constitutions (thats a nice way of saying it). Im afraid most visitors are only used to the decontaminated, flourided, gammarayed varity in the UK. Another consideration is the local beers are brewed with the same water... unless it actually says `filtered' (Zagorka is a good one) you can suffer in a similar way...

drank the local beer and water to my hearts content - never had a problem except, it makes my hair go flat for some reason( that's the water not the beer!)Caz
