just back from another wonderful trip to borovets.wanted to warn you all about a scam in resort.hotel iglika to be precise.in the restaurant we were served bottled water which we believe was refilled empty bottles.an easy way to scam 2 leva.but at what cost.my stomach on the mountain the next day!! but more dangerous if it had been a child.we buy bottled water to keep safe. this practise puts people in danger.i wont say what was in our bottle of water that bought this to our attention .just ...

I just got back today and i stayed at the Rila, they were doing the same scam there. Always insist on opening the bottle yourself, and when you finish, leave the bottle on the table and take the cap with you and dispose of it in your room or public bin.re: bottled water
4 of us had draught beer on thursday night in the RILAwe all had bad tummies the next day

I know in Bansko you can drink the warter without any problems, dont know about the other resorts. Eggs are more likely to give you a really bad stomach than the water. Always make sure they are well cooked, a lot of foriegn eggs have salmomella. I suffered really bad in spain ans have also had issues in bulgaria with eggs!!!re: bottled water
good point brian.will be more careful next time.have travelled all over and know this goes on.was more annoyed i got conned.deffo re-used bottle as someone had kindly left a pressie in bottom of bottle (toe nail clippings )gross ??!!once again be carefulre: bottled water

I went on a pub crawl in Borovets with eleven other guys. We each bought a round of beer and a chaser.Generally we stuck with brews that we recognised - Guinness, Heineken etc. and well known chasers - Smirnoff, Jack Daniels, Gordons etc.
The next day I felt really ill.
Moral is if you have a chaser be it Gin, Whiskey, Pernod or whatever, DO NOT have ice with it.
I think they use tap water for the ice, and that's what made me ill.

I absolutely agree, many years ago , when i was a boy i would go out on a friday night -- we would start with beer, maybe 5 or 6 then move on to the double vodkas, then later on we would move onto the triple vodkas, a great night would be had by all -------- THEN we would make the fatal mistake of having something to eat on the way home at 3am..........................
It was always that burger/kebab that made me ill the next day......................................
