bulgaria skiing

Hi there peopes,
Have'nt been skiing for about 17 yrs so probably a bit rusty, would like to take my wife and son neither of whom have ever skied before; had thought of going to either bansko or pamporovo. Can anyone advise on which resort is more suitable and when is the best time to go.
Will probably be renting an apartment so will need to hire the equipment and organise the schooling out there can you help.

re: bulgaria skiing

I would say Pamporovo is probably more learner friendly and has better nightlife imo.

When do you plan to go?

Bansko for sure. Jan/Feb is when we're going. Have done for 5 years. It rocks. Learner or creche facilities up on the slopes. Attentive ski instructors. Go for it.

Since its 17 years since you last skied I take it you are eh shall we say not looking for club 18-30.In that case Bansko would be better than Borovets though I can't speak for Pamps since I aint been.
Good Luck,you'll have a ball.

re: bulgaria skiing

Pamporovo's Arron of course you will choose Pamp .
the true is that for snow reliability:
Borovets and Bansko are steps ahead and if with children - Borovets is probably the number one-No walks to the lifts, convenience, shorter transfers, better ski runs choice.
Bansko-snow is OK on top but forget it to have it at base at all times and walks to from lifts make is pain in the but plus too many people on the slopes so if you like M25 at peak times -Bansko is for you.

I have a child ( age 8 ) and I highly recommend pamps and cannot see how it is not child friendly both by day and at night ....ok fair enough I haven't been elsewhere but if it ain't broke don't fix it .....thats my philosphy. Booze Booze Booze

Hi Innes
I would say Pamporovo is certainly the place to go for your wife and son to learn. The snow has started and there is lots more to come. If you plan a trip in February you should have good snow. Have been out each year for years and February has been great. Over the last two years March was poor for snow but last February I skied in the best snow and conditions I've ever skied in!

Pamporovo has great runs for beginners, great accomodation, food is good, lovely people and I must comment that in my opinion the Bulgaria ski instructors are the best in the world and I've skied in many resorts in USA, Andorra, France, Italy and Norway.
Your family will love the resort. Best of luck wherever you decide to go. Regards
