There have been some poor starts to the season (last couple of years excepted) but surely this has got to be the worst?? Confused

I first skied in Borovets 24 years ago. We went at the beginning of January for several years running and the snow was always good. Razz

The snow season is shifting later and later in Bulgaria it seems.

I'd be surprised if they close Pamporovo. Cams show conditions as not too bad and the invest they have made means most runs are properly cannoned up.

Water is now being pumped from sources near the base of the mountain up to the reservoir at the top of the gondola. Initially there was a problem with the pumps as they basically had never been used, but technicians effected repairs (it was one of the techs i was speaking to) and the pumping started. Last night was witness to Ulens commitment to keep Bansko open... There has been scaremongering on other sites by people with perhaps vested interests in seeing Bansko fail, but it is not just Ulen who are effected, local business rely totally on the influx of tourists in the winter, the spreading of rumours like this can very quickly destroy small businesses that have taken years to establish through hard times...
