re: credit cards

Notoriously difficult, sometimes they work, sometimes they don't. Same for cash machine too, so take enough cash for your hol, easy enough to change sterling to lev.

re: credit cards

I think there's enough cash machines and a least one will work...also best rate is cash point - especially with a natwest or currency-free card - even if you don't currently have an account, there's loads you can open with minimum balance that don't charge for foreign cash withdrawls... If you have to change in resort, be careful of bad rates

re: credit cards

Hey Mik,

My advice, take enough cash! I love the skiing in Bulgariaville, however each time I have been had a card skim take place! however if your gonna use them then credit cards is the best bet! I used a cash card in the Pamporovo ATM in the mall and got stung a treat.. cash is king!!!

Still not enough to put me off and no worse than a cheeky indian restaurant i used in Guildford in June!

Cheers and enjoy!

re: credit cards

Cash is usually the best....but the best rate (if you can trust the ATMs) is a Nationwide Flex account card with no charges. Would never dream of using a credit card inBG!!!

re: credit cards

If you bring cash, make sure the notes are not rippid as the banks will nottake them. I agree with Welshlady though. The Nationwide flex card in atms is the best.

I'm going to take my nationwide flex card this time... lets hope ATM's in Bansko are reliable... anyone had any issues in the past here?

re: credit cards

I have had my card skimmed after using it in bansko - just keep a careful note of the transactions you make to cross reference them against future deductions in your account
