daft question from old timer

Ok all you old sweats, a daft question from a Bulgaria fan.
Pamporovo, what are the best hotels to be near the action and the resort ?.
The new missus and I are itching to get booked for January next year. The problem we have is no news on the replacement chairlift in Borovets. This will only be the second time my wife, and daughter have been, so we need a few more blues than we had open to us in Borovets back in Feb.
We don't want some ridiculously expensive hotel, when we eat out ...

We don't want some ridiculously expensive hotel, when we eat out every day (why not, it's so cheap), just something that doesn't mean a massive schlepp home after a few sherberts.
I'm sure you'll have some favourites, then we can get booking.
Phil

Ps I know PP is going later than this, and he has the monopoly on snow fall, but we can't wait that long....might have to go back a month later. Very Happy

re: daft question from old timer

The one to book is the Mourgavets. That's the one Pete and the gang go for. The hotels are mostly about 3km from the slopes - the only one at the bottom of the slopes is the Markony

Looks like the replacement chairlift in Borovets will be up and running ready for next year so I'm going there.

re: daft question from old timer

Hi Judith,
I just had a look at the Murgavets, reasonable price as well.
Is the new chairlift in Borovets going to be completed? if it is that would make a difference, especially if most of the hotels in Pamps are 3Km away. For some reason I sometimes find it awkward to walk home after enjoying Bulgarian hospitality Very Happy Booze
Having said that I might be having a boys week away after we get back, so might get to see both anyway. It's nice to have a change sometimes as well.

re: daft question from old timer

There have been some threads about the work that is going on and it looks fairly positive. I've been skiing twice - once in Borovets (2003) and once in Pamps (2004).

I had the benefit of the whole ski area being open in 2003 and preferred the skiing in 2003 and the company in 2004. I stayed at the Iglika in Borovets - and am going back there.

The choice is yours!

re: daft question from old timer

Hi again Judth,
Been three years on the trot twice in the iglika and once in the rila. We were in the iglika during half term back in Feb, and the slopes were busy. Obviously this was mostly caused by the number of people in the resort, but it was no help at all having the single chair closed. We really don't want to have that again. We are not going in term time again. We are/were really looking forward to the long blue run from the top of the single chair, as it's nice to spend some time ...

There wasn't much of an alternative to use either. Thats why were hanging on til we know for definate it will be finished, or booking Pamps, either way, it's Bulgaria again.

Like myself old son, you seem to enjoy the odd glass of Moet after skiing and we always get the taxi back to the ,Morgavets as all the busses are long gone. Works out about £1 a head if there are 3 in a taxi.

Surely you can wait to 22nd Jan when I will personally introduce you to EVERYONE in the resort Razz You will have the best holiday of your life I PROMISE!!!!!!!!! and you get the chance to hear me sing my world famous rendition of American Pie Razz Razz Razz

Be very rude not to. ...

Mrs banknote and our eleven year old have only been once, but did very well. We'd like some longer runs than we had back in February. Looking at the piste map, it appears there are some very long ones from the top.....

Back in a mo, gonna take a look at the prices.
Phil

Ps If you're going to wear your "electric" ski suit please warn us LOL...... Very Happy
