dry slope lessons

hi guys,

we went to Pamps this year and are going back in jam. We were beginners then, is it worth getting a couple of refresher lessons on our local dry slope just as practise or is it totally different?

Thanks

Be a bit sticky, going in jam!
Snow would be much better even last winters.

lol ok ok... i asked for that Very Happy Of course you realise i meant jan Wink

i thought that dry slopes were slower than real snow but just thought a couple of refreshers might help. i'm getting my own boots too but don't want to use them until i'm back in Bulgaria Very Happy

re: dry slope lessons

Seriously, I dont know, only been twice before myself.
We have a dry slope here in Southampton, but its seriously expensive to have lessons, one day here for about a week in Pamps!
I'm not going to bother, think its a bit like riding a bike, pick it up very quickly again 1st day back (last year was no problem).

hi..it is completely different. youd be better off going to one of the indoor slopes like xscape if youve got one near..as long as you can use the drag and get from top to bottom in one piece theyll let you on..and if you are getting new boots id say wear them as much as possible before your holidays to break them in...chances are you might need to change them too..

re: dry slope lessons

We went to Bulgaria in 2006, having learnt the basics at Xscape. That was good, cos it meant that we avoided all the toil of the nursery slopes and could get straight into it.
We went again this year and I was really worried that I'd have forgotten how to ski, but it IS like riding a bike - you don't forget, and after the first couple of runs we were back to where we'd left off the year before. We also bought our own boots - a real bonus, because at leasdt you know your feet are going ...

Going again Feb 2008 - can't wait!

re: dry slope lessons

I would advise going, it cant make you any worse, and you will find that its that much easier when youre actually on your hols. But hey im biased, as i instruct on a dry slope Booze

Lots of injuries on dry slope matting - thumbs mainly getting caught in the webbing.

re: dry slope lessons

Would recommend it, my daughter learnt to ski on the dry slope in Edinburgh, and its definately true what they say if you can ski on a dry slope you will find snow much easier.
