dry slope skiing

As it rained loads yesterday, I took the skis for an outing at the local DSS. It was a great nite and awesome on my new skis that just gobbelled up the wet surface. Anyway it all went pete tong when I messed up a jump off a 6 ft kicker. A dislocated little finger and a 3in tear in the next finger put a holt to procedings. However a quick 'finger putting back in' session and a bandage later, I was back on the slope Wink

So the morale of the story is to be careful on 6ft kickers on DSS! Razz

re: dry slope skiing

Be careful on a DSS at any time. Great for learning on but not for me anymore. Prefer to wait for the snow.

re: dry slope skiing

Chatham now has a kicker and rail night on Thursday. Previously it was just for boarders but they have lightened up and allowed skiers on as well.

In my distant past i used to do demonstrations on our local slopes (Torquay, Plymouth and Churchill). Mostly on open days just to wet the perspective punters appetites. Our local slope installed a wave run, similar to moguls which allowed you to get air and miss out bumps.
We would organise bump comps where you were judged on style, speed and air. One year i actually won it (not much competion !!) collected my prize and celebrated with a few beers (big mistake)... The end of the day saw ...

We would organise bump comps where you were judged on style, speed and air. One year i actually won it (not much competion !!) collected my prize and celebrated with a few beers (big mistake)... The end of the day saw everybody going down sort of free style, 180`s, star jumps, daffys, the lot, my turn came and i decided on a back scratcher mid way down, just didn`t get enough air, caught my tips in the mat and hit the next bump flat out, succeeded in breaking my arm and displacing two vertabrae in my lower back...
The morale of this story, `don`t be a di*khead show off'

Ahhh thank you.... Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy
