Correct FV - and of course they are not a sum total but more an either or option. They are simple guidelines to prevent people having any possible hassle through customs.

I was with another poster on here 2 years ago travelling back through Gatwick who had 3 thousand cigarettes with him and they confiscated the lot in spite of him exclaiming that they were all for his use, which I believe they were.

Pete, another thing to remember is
Never ever sign the UKBA's notebook. they fiddle it, you can see the result of this on the website I mentioned in earlier post. You are within your legal rights to record any interview on recorder or phone. I do about 50 trips across the channel as a stand by courier and I could relate some horror stories. forewarned is forearmed. F.V.
