hi we have booked a ski holiday & we have never been before, we have booked some lessons, would you recomend to go to a dry slope before we go to borovets, we will be arriving on the 23rd dec 06 or would this be to little to late
My boyfriend and I had our first ski holiday in Borovets last Feb, it was FANTASTIC!! We have 6 lessons on the dry slopes before we went as we wer total beginners. It helped us just to get to grips with putting on the boots and skis, learning the terminology and using the drag lifts. Although the dry stuff and the real thing feel different the principles are similar and in our opinion the dry slope experience really helps.
By all means give it a go, but don't try to do too much. There are far more injuries pro rata on dry slopes than the real thing, mainly due to people getting thumbs caught in the matting.
My personal thoughts on this would be no, as the thrill of putting skis on for the very first time on real snow is something you will never forget.
thanks for the advice we have taken out good injury insurance just in case we come home like chicken in a basket, so if you see us out their give us a short we will be the old ones who cant stand up cheers
I wanted to learn to ski before I was 50 and skiied in Pamps 1st time this Feb, just 6 weeks before b'day. No serious damage (just black eye & bust lip!). Goin' back in Feb 2007 as me and hubby loved it. Kids think we're mad - but who cares?
you will have a great time and the instructors are realy good do everything they can to keep you safe, so chance of injury is quiet slim. you are with them all day which I think is better than other resorts where you have 1.5 hours then left on your own to break a leg why not go to one of the snowdomes instead of a dry slope more realistic, I went straight to the resort having never put skies on and was coming down the top of the mountain in 3 days. second ...
keep it up lizzie

We skiied for the first time last year and had just two one hour lessons on a dry slope before we went. We learn't how to start, how to stop and how to get up off your backside all of which we found useful when we got onto the real thing.
