fao Borogirl

Hi Borogirl,
The 1st container was donated by the company that I worked for and the 2nd one the cost was covered by myself, as I could not get donation's for it. All the items was donated by company's and friend's.

Thanks Andy

I don't think collecting useful items will be a problem. It's getting the transport.

I'm waiting for a few phone calls back from local charities and organisations, so fingers crossed. There must be a haulage company somewhere in the UK who could help. If not, I may have to get my HGV license!

I hope you don't mind but I think could be lots of logistical questions coming your way.

Hi Borogirl,

There is a lot of paperwork to do if you get a company to take it, custom's is a big problem. If the paperwork is not in order when it get's to Bulgaria the truck can wait for week's. As for driving it yourself, I was going to drive the 2nd one over but it was the paperwork that was the problem so it was a lot easy to get a container company to do it.
If you give the british road haulage a call they will help. Also, give custom's a call and they will send you a export pack, ...

Ask any question's that you have and if I can I will help.

Just a thought..I know a company (rents space from us in my work building) that imports truck loads of his stock from Turkey. It boarders BG so it may be worth finding out which route the trucks take back and whether they could help.
If not he may have some contacts with import/export companiesfor that area. I'll have words on Monday Smile

re: fao Borogirl

Just thinking about the lorry situation,i work for a very big transport company ( wincanton) i would be willing to bring a lorry over full of goods if my company was to supply a lorry&trailor.

They may do something about this situation but they may want to get a mention of some sort.

I will see if i can get intouch with the right person and come back to you at some point.

Victoria and Mr P Both sound worth checking out.

V - use all your womanly wiles - use any tactic that may tempt a business man from Turkey!! As you say, it's not far in the scheme of things, to pop over another border.

Mr P - I know I won't be able to drive but if your company agree (or even for a greatly reduced rate), I promise to keep you company on the journey, if you want. There's not much I can't talk about and I'm good at staying awake!!

Seriously, start making enquiries ...

Is Chas Lawrence still the transport manager at Wincanton Transport? He was 20 years ago and I used to play football with him for Castle Cary. If he is let me know and I'll try and have a chat with him too.

If mr p has an HGV licence, then does anyone have a horsebox or cattle truck to lend?
