Hi Barbara

I Learnt to ski in Borovets when I was 40 and subsequently took my kids, who also learnt to ski there.

I haven't been to the other resorts but have since been back to Borovets about 10 times in the last 8 years!!

Skiing is great for beginers and now they have installed extra snow cannons on the lower beginner and intermediate slopes, it will extend the options available substantially.

I've recommended Boro to lots of friends with children and they've always had a great time.

For me the biggest plus for Boro, ( which will be very relevant in March as the days are longer and the weather is better), is that as parents you can sit in a bar at the end of the day while you watch the kids on the nursery slopes or watch them sledging, its perfect.

Croeso Barbara,

Ok Barbara I'm going to bite the bullet and say all the above is 100% but if your going Easter time I would not go to Bansko (no disrespect to Bansko) but the gondola que from the main centre will be horendous and not a good start for beginners. So it's a toss up between Pamps and Borovets, I was a late comer to sking 50yr and learnt in Pamps and had a fantastic time there but since then 2001 I have been going to Borovets many many many times. Ski schools are excellent but if your adventurious go for private lessons you will come on a lot quicker. Apre ski is a must and if you introduce yourself or notify anyone on this board you and familly are coming out they will put you in the direction of one of the BGSki gang.

As for Manc Tom, swing low sweet chariot your wheels just fell off. Very Happy

Hi Barbara
Everyone to their own but in defense of Pamporovo the transfer time from Plovdiv (from Stansted) is only 1.5 hours. Many hotels are ski-in, ski-out (my apartment is in the Grand Monastery) and Pamporovo is well known for being a family-oriented friendly resort. As in all resorts there are good and bad restaurants but you only have to ask around and everyone is happy to point you in the direction of good grub. You can also get the info an this forum.

Also, the management of the ski slopes in the last couple of years extended the skiing up to end March.

Hi Barbara

Hopefully you got some help from everyone's responses - did you book anything in the end?

Kas

p.s Borovets stayed open until May last year due to so much snow - let's hope all resorts get the same covering again!
