Wear a helmet and risk guards. Oh, and learn how to slow down and stop before venturing onto the steeps! Wink

most of the guys on here ski so you will get some light hearted banter that you get between skiiers and boarders.

I board am also just starting out, get some lessons on your first day there i have been told the tutors are excellent and lessons are cheap
good luck

My advice is the same I board have been for about 6 years now and best idea is to get lessons to learn how to control your speed and board. Skiers do not like it when some dude on an ironing board is plouging in to them!!

Best investment you could have is a pair of impact shorts, because [through experience] you will spend most of the week on your butt.
Have a great time persevere it will be worth it.
PS. a couple of Booze at lunch helps!

Impact shorts a must to protect your coxcyc. Also dont get too cocky when you think you can link turns. Take it steady (Unlike me on my first trip sprained my ankle, out the game for 6 months).

Have a good un, also watch out for the Skiers lining across the slopes drinking campari whilst wearing wearing safari suits Very Happy

re: going snowborading need tips

watch your blind spot! once you get going and find forward motion simple you'll realise there is a blid spot behind you which almost always has a skier coming at you from a 45degree angle!
After a while you get used to glancing behind you on the front edge turns!

When are you heading out?

re: going snowborading need tips

Isnt a blind spot the timeframe from your 8th beer until the hammer starts in your head the next morning?

Cheers for the boarding advice, my ever so slight 110kg frame will be propelling one of those planks for the first time this week too.
