Looks like you still have to comprimise on the fuller safety that a helmet provides but better than nothing at all I guess.
I have always worn a helmet snowboarding, a nice one with earphones built in and I actually prefer it to wooly hat, I have an instructor friend works in the States she has always hated helmets but now wear the Red padded pom pom hat and says it's a good comprimise, I guess for fashon consious girls it might be the thing, perhaps not as good as a helmet but a lot better than nothing and if she wears it all the time without complaint
Had a look at the RED pom pom hat - and it is just a padded pom pom. They also say that there are no official tests for 'soft' headwear hence it doesn't comply with any current standards.
Found this sky news item, but still can believe it's that good!
