edz . . . . . anything is better than nothing mate !!!

I wear one all day and don't really notice it usually. Only gets warm when spring skiiing but then I remove all the vents and whip it off when I stop. My helmet that is ! oops digging deeper ... getting out now.

Used to teach at Xscape and we wouldn't let anyone out without a helmet ... and I always wear one now after I had a nasty fall that somehow didn't smash my head open! A bit like bolting the barn door after the horse has hit you with a basball bat, but at least I'm a lot safer now!

re: helmets good or bad

Helmets are definately the way forward. Been skiing for years without one but 2 yrs ago I started to feel uncomfortable with a lot of reckless/out of control/hungover skiers (and boarders!!) around me, with sods law I would probably have ended up worse off in a collision!!! In fact, my last trip to Bansko at Xmas I witnessed 2 boarders collide, one had a helmet on, the other didnt, luckily it was the boarder with the helmet that was struck on the head with the board, other way round I'm ...

In fact, my last trip to Bansko at Xmas I witnessed 2 boarders collide, one had a helmet on, the other didnt, luckily it was the boarder with the helmet that was struck on the head with the board, other way round I'm convinced he would have had his skull fractured, never mind sliced open as it was a bit of a clatter. Helmets used to be a rarity on the slopes but skiing this Xmas I would put it about 50/50 now.

Can't emphasise enough for the need to try them on prior to buying, dont just order off internet. I had to try several on before getting the best fit even though they were all the same size. Also recomend that you make sure your goggles fit on your helmet, I had to get new goggles as the shape of the helmet prevented a flush fit on my face.

Felt a bit strange skiing first day with helmet but quickly got used to it and kept head a lot warmer than just wearing a beanie hat.

Go for the hemet, you know it makes sense Very Happy Very Happy

re: helmets good or bad

Hi guys, there is a group of 6 of us going to boro on Saturday, 4 adults and 2 kids.
We have been looking at helmets but not sure where to buy from, are we able to buy them over in Borovets, they are rather bulky to buy in the UK, any help would be great.
Cheers

Jase

You can buy them in Boro, not sure about the cost tho.

Have to agree with Sam, make sure your goggles fit your helmet. I hired one this year. Helmet very comfortable but gap between top of goggles and helmet made for very cold forhead!!

Will def invest in one now.

re: helmets good or bad

Wore a helmet for the first time for my trip to Bansko 2 weeks ago. Actually found it more comfortable than a hat or beanie, once clipped on it doesnt move around unlike my hats always did. I took my goggles with me when I went to buy the helmet that way knew they would fit properly with the helmet.
