re: helmets good or bad

Hi Edz,

I'm a boarder and skier and will never do either without my helmet! I've had a couple of tumbles where if I hadn't of been wearing my helmet I'm pretty sure I would have sustained a nasty injury.
The most important tip is to try lots of helmets on to see which one fits well and doesn't have any pressure points as they can make your trip a total misery. I've found many helmets my friends have just don't fit me properly even though we are tha same head size, so try, try and try ...

Once you have this you won't even notice that you're wearing a helmet rather than a hat.
I hope this helps, stay safe on the mountain Smile

A must have in my opinion. I used to ski without one but now I am older and wiser?! Would not consider going anywhere near a slope without one, not just the high speed crash that can kill look at Natasha Richardson last year fell over on the flat had she had a helmet on she more than likely would still be alive today.

re: helmets good or bad

Hi Edz,

I've only been out there for a few days a couple of years back so my memory might be a bit faded, but I always liked the Yastrebets 2 & 3, they are wide not too steep and have wonderful views.
I'm out on the 7th for 10 days with my mate who is having ski lessons so perhaps we will bump into each other and find some runs to cruise down wearing our helmets and avoiding the rocks? Smile

re: helmets good or bad

I'll look out for you and your better half, I'll be the boarder in brown with a black helmet covered in stickers, and my mate will be the skier in green ~ hopefully with a helmet too!
Have a good trip out there, and lets pray for a bit more snow to cover those troublesome rocks! Very Happy

re: helmets good or bad

Seen some horrific head clashes on the slopes and would never ski without a helmet. Even if you are standing still you can still get crashed into.

My daughter who was 6 at the time got flattened by a large skier and his skis sliced through her wooly hat like a razorblade through butter and cut her head leading to 5 stitches. Never without a helmet again. !!!!
