I've been to Borovets twice before and off for the 3rd time tomorrow (3/01).

You do see a few prostitutes but not many. Last time we went we stayed at the Breza and they used to get dropped off right in front, next to the main door but then used to head off towards the samokov and Rila (thankfully).
I did get approached on two occasions which I found annoying but they do go if you tell them you are not interested.

I don't think your girls will have any problems, it's pretty obvious who the prostitues are.
What I found more annoying is the street beggars and keep being pestered by bar / restaurant / shop owners to go and sample their goods.

Saying all that, I do like Borovets and Bulgaria. Naturally beautiful country and in general the people are kind and helpful.

Learn a few simple phrases before you go and they will appreciate the effort, as would we if the situation was reversed.

One word of caution - don't change your money on the streets. Use the two banks or your hotel.
A couple got ripped off for £200 last time I was there - they were given old, worthless currency.

Please dont concern yourself about the ladies of the night, there is a lot said about them on this site, some true some not so true.
These ladies are everywhere all over the world but not spoken about on other sites,
maybe because not everyone is so open as the posters here.

My daughter has never had any trouble in Borovets, even in the Buzz bar.
Borovets at night is just like new years eve every night with everyone out to enjoy themselves and have a great time.

We have been to Borovets quite a few times now, and I feel happier walking around there than I do at home especially in the early hours of the morning. We have never found the ladies of the night to be a problem, in fact usually extremely pleasant, and as we go each year I would also say they are becoming less visable. In the years that we have been going I can honestly say that the couple of spots of trouble have been caused by our own countrymen being slightly the worse for wear and acting like complete fools. You have no need to worry your girls will have a safer time than going out in England

Hookers in Bulgaria? Na romania aint got a bad rugby team, could do with some work but passable. but cant say ive seen bulgaria play.
Seriously though m8, ive travelled all over and everywhere you go there are hookers, germany being about the worst. But they are easy to spot, they have to be or they wouldnt get any work. In the unlikely event that your daughters were mistaken for hookers, they only have to use but 2 words. To be honest it may well work to their advantage as most of us stear clear of them, so your girls might get a more peicefull holiday. Either way i wouldnt worry about it, im sure they will be fine.
