Whilst in Bansko i did notice a rise in prices but they didn't break the bank and i did meet a few grumpy people in shops and bars but by the time i left these places these grumpy people turned into happy people why you ask well i will tell you and i will tell you straight i bloody smiled at them and told them to be happy,( maybe a thought for your next trip, i even asked one young girl working in a bar why she was so unhappy, she told me because she was tired ( working 18 hours a day 7 days a week ) can some of you understand that because i can.
anyway just a thought for all the people who had a bad holiday in Bulgaria, it doesn,t matter what country or how many times you go somewhere in the world whilst on holiday you may experience something or someone which will make your holiday one from hell, as an example my friend won a car through work for not having a day off in 7 years, as he already had a new car he thought it would be a good idea to sell the car he won and take his family on a holiday of a life time, he decided that the republica dominicana be a great destination so he sold the car within a day of collecting it, booked the holiday and was on the plane two weeks later with his wife and three small children, on arrival to his destination he was ferried by bus to his hotel to find his wife had been put in one hotel and he and his kids had been put in another ( haven't read that one on this forum ) after two hours they got sorted and all stayed in the same hotel ( different floors though ) on the second day after a long day sitting by the pool his son got an electric shock after switching on the bedside light, on the forth day they all went out on a day trip to some waterfalls that night his wife was taken to the local hospital because she couldn't breath, on the 7th day he himself was taken ill and rushed to hospital inwhich he spent 3days on a drip, they returned home after two weeks of pure hell, 8 weeks later he has still not been able to return to work.
so is Bulgaria the only place that people are unhappy with.
I think to many that's part of the charm of BG. It's not to everyone's taste being transported back in time and some people prefer more sophisticated, developed destinations.
Can't say I would recommend England as a place to visit, but if someone wanted help to see the best we have to offer, I would give my recommendations and advice rather than just say don't come here and moan about everything that is bad/wrong with this country.
Stevie D - shouldnt really comment if you havent been there - we had a fab holiday in Dom Rep. Have also had 6 hols in BG with none of the problems people have been moaning about (even had good flights with Balkan!!).
no matter how bad the place is according to Mikey et al, you cant argue that there were 24% more people in the resorts this year. So some people are obviously happy, and the people that stay with us have always said how much they like Borovets. Of course its not the best resort in Europe, but theres plenty to go around, and people are still coming, the snow covers good (friends of mine went to milky way in march and had very poor snow), you get to ski, eat out at a reasonable price, drink ...

People have bad experiences all over the world, and it doesnt amtter how much you payy
either, so the answer is if you havent been before, go with an open mind, and remeber its YOUR holiday not some one else view!!!!
It's not that bad it's just that if it's going to raise it's prices then you have to look at the competition.
Unfortunately for Bulgaria the competition is much better.
Hi All,
I want to buy a 1 bed property in Borovets for investment purpose but i've never been there..Would anyone be able to advise me on what kind of price to pay and what to look for as there are so many websites claiming they are the best and offering too much which looks too good to be true..I would really benefit from some advice from the people who actually live there or go there frequently..
thanks a lot..
