re: just back from pamps

We loved the 'Bulgarian Pub' - just above mid-station, you follow the main green till it flattens out for the first time, then kind of veer off to the right. They did the very best hot chocolate on the mountain and their lunches were very reasonable. They also added up the bill in front of you - and the toilets were free!

The cheapest place we found was 'Bulgarian Dreams' right at the side of the bottom chair lift from the ski school. It's a self service place and the food is excellent and very hot. The only negative aspect was that it lacked the atmosphere of some of the other places, but it was way cheaper than everywhere else and the service was excellent. The toilets were awesome!

Is Alex's bar before you get to the bottom of the 1 man chair, or is it at the bottom of the 3 man chair??
We had 2 great meals at the restaurant at the bottom of the 3 man chair - the first building you come to. Great guy, had a daughter who reminded me of Sandra Bullock. Remembered us the 2nd time we came and moved loads of gear to allow us to defrost our children on the radiator. Great food and service.

Didn't find the Bulgarian Pub - made a note to try that one next year. We tried to find somewhere different everyday but were so spoilt for choice. Never ripped off and always offered change (which we refused on nearly every occasion)

re: just back from pamps

Isn't in funny how people can have such different opinions of the same place? Perhaps there are two Pamporovo's. I didn't come across one rude or grumpy Bulgarian and would go back like a show just for the welcoming warmth of the Bulgarian people that I met.

Maybe prices have increased over the last few years but I've skied the French Alps for the past 10 years and this year was my first in Bulgaria. It was by far our cheapest ever ski holiday. £1600 for a family of 5 including flights & ...

Maybe prices have increased over the last few years but I've skied the French Alps for the past 10 years and this year was my first in Bulgaria. It was by far our cheapest ever ski holiday. £1600 for a family of 5 including flights & accommodation, transfers, ski hire for 5, liftpasses for 3, childcare for 1 and all meals (we ate out every night, including wine) and spending money - oh and that includes a night in a hotel at Gatwick airport!

Alex's is between the bottom of the green slope and the 1 man chair. It's got a blue parasol over the pancake stand, it has a big sign that says PIZZA, but if you look on the window it says Alex's bar.

Ah, we didn't try that one then! Mental note to try it next year. I presume then you can see it on the snow shack web cam?
