I’ve recently got back from Borovets, so here is a quick run down.
Streets got very icy, and once the snow melted the was rubbish everywhere.
The food is really cheap and if you go to the right place, really nice. But watch out, they don’t have the same standards as us, so some places are bad. (i.e. Karoke bar). There is a bar called “101 Cocktails”, it is excellent, it’s a pity we didn’t go in until half way through the week, just try it and sit at the bar. It’s about £4-£5 a day to hire ski/boards out there in some places. Get equipment early to get the best stuff. Pre-booking doesn’t guarantee good equipment. (Complain the process).
Borovets is best suited to beginners who don’t mind using the smaller slopes most of the time, and experts who can ski the steep reds (especially when icy). If your not one of the above, try somewhere else.
Definitely eat at Mamacita’s, (great breakfast and Mexican)
Definitely eat at Katy’s Steak house, (big steaks)
Definitely drink at 101 Cocktails, (proper cocktail barmen)
Try Francos for a fun bar, plus good breakfast. Watch out for Tommy the Snow boarder barman.
Don’t eat at the Karoke bar.
The Silver Eagle was OK, the Orange Chicken was really really nice.
If you're going soon, please ask questions, I will try and reply.
Hi man i'm from greece and tring to recolt informations. At borovet do you need to have a car to move around and as well for going to the ressort?
Do you have any place to stay for 3 or 4 people. (Not expensive)
IN MY OPINION, Borovets is too small to justify hireing a car. That is if you are not planning on leaving Borovets during your stay.
Research accomidation prices, you may get some good deals. I'm not too sure about 3-4 people staying as I stayed in the Olymp, there were plenty of other groups there though. Should be quite cheap.
