Does anyone know where the new Lidl is in Smolyan?
I know where the Billa is and main shopping street. Is it walking distance from there? I will be getting the bus down from pamps and just wondering where it is
For those of you who visit/ski in Pamporovo, and go into Smolyan to shop, apart from Billa, there is also a new Lidl store now which opened in October.
From Billa head down the main road towards the main church, go past the church and you will see it on the same side of the road as Billa. Its well signposted
I would say a little to far to walk with shopping bags, but there is a car park in Lidl and you simply continue past Billa on the same road out of town, it is sign posted i shop at both, Billa better range of bread and better range of cheeses etc, its worth stopping at Metro on your way up from the airport, you can simply get a day card and its much cheaper and more choice. Hope this helps
Thanks for the info Amanda. Myself and wife have a 4 year old so not sure how much skiing we will get to do but a few trips to Smolyan for shopping as we are staying in self catering apartment and no doubt sledging, snowman building along with the odd kamenitza or 3 !
our daughter began skiing at 3 years old, she loved it, did you think about teaching him/her to ski? you could all have family fun on the slopes together. We built an igloo with our children one year and it lasted for months you could try ringoes, they are great fun for all ages. Children love icescating, why not give it a go? husky rides are cheep and fun also, there is so much to keep a little one entertained here. We always pack English bacon as it still is not readily available here. ...

Eating out is not expensive and Smolyan is always nice to go to one evening, there are some lovely restaurants at half the cost of Pamps and you get to meet the real locals, it is great fun and makes a change from cooking, you are all on holiday after all!. Smolyan has many new shops, trendy bars and coffee shops.
