Hi All
does anyone know if you have to have your photo taken for a season lift pass in Bansko and is it possible to book one from the uk at the start of the season.
i know you have to have it taken when buying at the kiosk.
In answer to the actual question, despite the above advice, Bansko at least requires you to have a photo ID on your lift pass, and it is not possible to order one in the UK. A photo is taken when you buy a pass at the Gondola and is automatically put onto the pass to prevent the old swapping passes routine.
I think I might be right in saying that if you buy a ski pack from the travel operators then a non photo pass is included, but for independants a photo pass is required.

My season pass in Bansko last year had my photo on it - incredibly poor quality webcam thing that they shove in your face at the kiosk. But it is on the system and you can just about make out that its me and they do have the capacity to check it at most of the lifts. Although I would say the chances of being caught are extremely small.
Season pass definately requires pic, and can only be bought here. Would suggest when buying to wear hat, even sunglasses, as when you let your mate borrow it, he only has to wear the same hat
They are checked, every pass will display a pic on the lift comp, the gondola especially, and in my experience (got caught using Scottish ladies pass) is frowned upon (like being thrown off the mountain for three days)... fortunately had a friend in Ulen security, so only had to give up the pass.. ...
