lift passes - holders?

people are recommending that a retractable holder may be useful. Why??? and if it is what kind do you need i.e. does in need to have a plastic bit for a pass to go into ????

re: lift passes - holders?

Depends on your resort.

If you are going to Pamporovo you will not need one as they operate a scanner system that will recognise your pass as you approach the turnstiles. You can just leave it in your pocket and forget about it.

re: lift passes - holders?

The lift passes are now scanned so you do not need to take them out of you pocket. Some new jackets have a nice pocket on the left side as mine does for your pass. Or as my partner did stick it in you inside pocket of your jacket.

Matty Not too sure about Borovets, but many Ski resorts including Bansko and Pamporovo use the intelligent hands-free Austrian design SKIdata lift pass systems.

Very good systems just walk and it opens up.

Boro is a bit behind the times, you still have to put it in the slot to get on a lift, well at least you did this time last year when I was there.

re: lift passes - holders?

The retactable lift pass holders are evrywhere and they are very cheap to purchase once you are there. We got oursin te ski shop in the Samokov as soon as we got our passes just to make sure we didn't lose them before leaving the buildin!!

Hope this helps

re: lift passes - holders?

You definitely do need a lift pass holder for Borovets - got back just last weekend and still got the cough and cold to prove it.
