just changed money on the post office to go to bansko next week and was told £4.10 is 10 lev is this a good rate, i know it was better last year? thanks
That's the bank rate - the only place you'll get that rate is if you draw the money out of the hole in the wall machine in Bulgaria - with no commission - the only card that does this is Nationwide.
I got 2.74 to £1 in M&S yesterday and today they advertise 2.75 - they also had Lev in stock. That worked out at 10 lev = £3.63
By my calculations that works out at approx 2.44 Levs to £1 which is pretty poor.
I suppose it's a bit late now but you could have got a much better rate in Bansko. Alternatively, M&S is the best place I've found in the UK for any foreign currency not just Levs. The exchange rate they are offering today is 2.751 Levs to £1. They have Bureaux de Change in some of their larger branches. You can find out which branches have them via the following link(http://www.fxcorporation.co ...

I'm heading off to Bansko myself on Christmas Eve &, to keep us going when we arrive, I changed £100 at M&S in Manchester a couple of weeks ago & got 2.78 Levs to £1.
I think the rates that Neil quoted are commercial exchange rates not tourist rates.
Ive always used the booths in Boro you just gotta be careful and make sure they hand you the money before you hand over yours that way you cannot get ripped off and the exchange rates far beat the uk ones..
