Hi coming to borovets on 30th jan does anyone know what rate of levs do they give you in the bank, and if they charge for sterling travellers cheques. Thanks.
We will be getting most of our levs when we get to Bansko but changing £50 in UK before we go for first day lunch etc. had a look on the net and looks like Tesco is best bet for good rate. They are offering 2.12 and there are a large number of the superstores with currency counter.
i was going to sort some travellers cheques out for when i leave 23rd. reason being was to miss out o getting charged everytime i make a transaction in bulgaria on my card, i rang my bank and they said apparently i can potentially be charged up to £4.50 for each transaction, either drawing out cash or even purchasing things on my card?????? can anyone advise???? cash travellers cheques, i also heard that large amounts of levs arnt a good idea??
Take cash out mate and change it out there as you need it. Done this for last 4 years and works well with best rates. Don't think people bother with travellers cheques in BG. I am fortunate in having a current a/c at Nationwide so I can draw Levs from cash machine at the prevailing rate free of charge. Only do this if i spend all the cash i take out though.
When you say sterling I guess you refer to English notes.... I unfortunately live in scotland, do they still take them or do they give you the look of disgust you normally get when trying to changescotish notes in a foreign country
