is it worth taking any Lev with us or is it better to change money up when we get there. We r going to Boro in Jan.If latter any info on best place to money exchange.
Gidday,
Yes its worth taking a small amout. I didn't take any Lev with me and when the transfer bus stoped for a break, could not buy a snack.
I also found that the best exchange rate was to be had via the ATMs in resort however take so sterling with you and as every one will say, new, not ripped and not marked note and no Scottish notes.
At the airport in Sofia, you will find a cash dispenser. Like at most places in Bulgaria, there you can withdraw up to 200 leva a day. I do not know about Borovets, but in Bansko there are plenty of cash dispensers
Please, keep in mind that the cash dispensers could be empty and be aware of the 'fake cards men'!!! always check the machine about mini-camera's, double sleeves, etc.
Even when there are some people 'hanging' around: wait & go back later...A WARNING man is..you know!!
Hallo Gui, wanneer ga je? Ben zelf nog niet in Bankso geweest, steeds Borovets, maar info is steeds welkom.
Belgische groetjes Tanjette
hotel Bor (Borovets) has the best rates for changing euro!!!
last year was €1 = 1,90Lv; Samokov was 1,83Lv! (if I can remember this ..)
note: you CANNOT buy Leva in EU so everything has to been changed there...
*UK is no problem.
Definately take £50 worth of Levs with you to avoid the rush at the airport. You will find this makes your arrival much easier and if you work on 3 levs are approximately £1 (only approximately) then you will get some idea of what things cost.
