Am thinking of trying Bansko next year. Anyone know what the food quality is like and if the prices are as good as Pamps. . Just got back from Pamps, I love it there it's a great place. Thanks to all in my group, and our instuctor Denny.I think Bansko offers a wider choice of intermediate skiing. I'm sure loads of you have a view on this.
I was in Bansko a few weeks ago and loved it. I haven't been to Pamps though so can't compare. However previous postings seem to indicate that Bansko is cheaper. The quality of the food in the local restaurants in the town is excellent. On the slopes its OK too but more expensive but you will find this anywhere I think.
thanks Val. Pamps is great. I'v been there twice. Some of the most beautiful scenery I'v seen anywhere. The food on the mountain was great, cheap and a wide choice. We went to borovets in Jan , Food on the mountain was uncooked, cold and by comparisson to pamps Very expensive!! Hubby wants to try Bansko. It sounds good from the reviews. Concerned about the food as you are far from the resort once you go up the mountain to ski.
You're actually not that far from the resort but the food on the slopes is fine. Where are you thinking of staying. We were at the Pirin which we liked but also liked the location of the Strazhite and other posters enjoyed staying there.
The Lodge was theeee most expensive and worst on the mountain , But the others were good. I think the instructor was getting commission to go in there. We opted for the great selection elsewhere
The pirin sounds good. I think the hotels all look quite new, so I think near to the town would be good, so we can walk to the bars at night. If Bansko is like Pamps, there will be a good bus service to the gongola I hope. Do you store the skis near the gondola or in your hotel?
You return the skis to the hire shop each night. When you get them on the first day you will be given a ticket with a number on which corresponds with the number on your skis. You show this each morning and they will retrieve your skis. I liked this a lot because it meant you could just get on the hotel bus without skis to worry about. The Pirin has heated racks for boots. Absolute bliss to put on warm dry boots in the morning.
