Coming out borovets next sat.....we are beginners, so not sure what to expect!!!! staying at the rila... heard some bad reports abt the food... and other stuff.. feeling a little worried now :-( is it as bad as they say?) any advice???
As Tony said above people go back to the Rila year after year. When I stayed there we arrived late. the hotel put a buffet on for us, I must admit I was a little concerned with the food, when this was presented to us. However the next day at breakfast my concerns were proven to be unnecssary. Evening meals were fine also. The chef would come out and cook pancakes fresh, they were fantastic. I believe there is a microwave to warm the food up a bit if you want that, I never found that ...

However the next day at breakfast my concerns were proven to be unnecssary. Evening meals were fine also. The chef would come out and cook pancakes fresh, they were fantastic. I believe there is a microwave to warm the food up a bit if you want that, I never found that necessary. At lunch times we ate out a couple of times, just for a change. I only had one meal which I was concerned about and that was not in the Rila. Relax I'm sure you will have a great time
Thanks for the advive guys.... the more you read....sometimes its bad for you....lol... im sure its going to be fine... i have my own ski boots and ski's do the airline charge you for carrying them out to the resort???

Hi Annie, you will need to book ski carriage for your skis, and your boots will prob have to go in your case as most airlines wont let you take them as hand luggage, ski carriage is between 15 and 30 pounds depending on your airline, you can pack some clothes and things in your ski bag though. Enjoy Borovets and your skiing
I've stayed at the rila many times and never found it to be a problem, the best part is when the snow has really chucked it down you can actually ski up to the main entrance which is brill. I'm staying in the Ela this year jan17th slightly cheaper but it's had a revamp and I've been told on good information excellent family hosts.
Ive saved approx £180 which will go towards upgrade flight seats ( front seats & posh) to Panorama Canada Feb 25th.
