hi, in pamps for new year i have been advised to buy a bell first day to stop them trying to sell me one every day but have been told to barter, is this the case for everything? do they try and rip you off? where should i barter and where should i pay what i am asked. is there any bargains out there to bring back, markets / shops to visit.
thanks drew
Almost all shops are related to skiing and boarding, although there are a few nic-nac shops and supermarkets.
Everything is much cheaper than the UK so whatever you buy will be a bargain.
My advice on the the bells would be - well if you buy one they will consider you easy prey and will still try and sell you more, but they are only harmless Bulgarian folk trying to earn a living - they are quite funny really!
I get very touchy with the wording 'rip off' as this is not the ...

I get very touchy with the wording 'rip off' as this is not the Bulgarian way, and if you decide to buy something and are prepared to pay the asking price that is not a rip off - it's called business!
You can barter for anything although the bigger shops tend to stick to the marked prices.
I have never heard so much talk abour "bells" Give these young boys a break and buy a bell, i feel guilty if i dont buy a bell from each one of them, whats a few levs and its only a bit of fun! I love this country and its people its nice to give a wee bit back.
you can actually buy one as big as a cow bell, but not the ones most buy are the little ones with Pamps written on them a lot of the kids wear them on their coats so you can hear them coming
