re: pamps..

Have a great time Shindig, I was in Borovets last week with my family, I hadn't skied for 18 years, but picked it up again straight away, could ski as well as before, only problem, the old bones ache more now than when I was younger,
we found bulgaria a great place, very cheap, great fun and mostly great people.

re: pamps..

You'll love it in pamps - we had never been skiing before and our group ranged in age from 12 to 52 and we all learnt to ski thanks to our excellent instructor (Krassy). It took about two hours to get from Plovdiv to the resort, we found all Bulgarians very friendly and helpful. Don't know what the Murgavets is like - we stayed in the Finlandia which is a bit out of the way - so tended to stay there in the evening as we were all worn out from the skiing. Did go to the Perelik to shop one evening and went to the Apres Ski bar for our presentation night which was great. All in all excellent value for money and one of the best holidays we have ever been on, we will definitely be going back next year - or next week if we win the lottery (I can dream)!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Shindig,
You have picked an excellent hotel in the Mourgavets, it is dead centre of the resort, busses will take you to the ski depot every morning.

The restaurant has its problems though, with poor and slow service. I was in Pamps for half term and there was mountains of snow, check this link to see the forcast for the next 3 days http://www.snow-forecast.com/resorts/Pamporovo.0to3mid ...

Best places on the mountain, are the Lodge, which is just off the 4 man chair at the top! or the rickety looking place at mid station 2nd place beyond the Bungee on the right! fantastic Kavarma! (oh and home made chips)

Off the mountain, if you like chinese, give the red sun a go, fantastic meal, 7 of us ate for £7.00 per head! including drinks (2 bottles of wine, beer and soft drinks!)

Apres ski, have a look at the Markony if you are at ski depot 2. and in the evening, in the basement of your hotel is Spiders, and in the perelik is BJ's bar!

Enjoy

Ally

re: pamps..

Its good old place, always had a good laugh there. The Bulgarians are quite like us Brits, friendly but not in your face American style (bless 'em). ps If your a single and out for a little extra-ski activities, stay away from the tall dark haired brass in BJ's bar (A mate of mine wished he'd kept his pistol in his holster) Other than that no morries, have a great time Wink

This Saturday 5th? Thats when we're going, staying at the Murgavets.
Last year we were in the Hotel Perilik or as we re-named it, the Hotel Derelict.

What a laugh that place was, we walked into the room, it was tiny, we walked into the bathroom and looked at the toliet, it was glued to the floor at approximatly 30 degrees off centre, if you'd sat on it you would have fallen out the balcony window, the whole place was on the piss, it was so funny we were nearly crying. It looked like a film set for a 70's porno, in the end we upgraded to one of the floors they had upgraded.

The BBQ restaurant in the Murgavets is excellent. The hotel is excellent it's just the food that lets it down. The have some nice cakes though. The coffee machine at breakfast is fantastic just 3 presses and 3 waits and you have a great cuppa !

The staff are great as well.
