re: places to buy and sites

Yeah might see u 2,

I'll be back next year, and hopefully the apartment will be ready to use.

I'm really interested how those that have their own place travel.
Which airline, what transfers to resort and how did you book ski passes, skis, etc.

I've got boots and might buy skis and leave them there.

Thanks

Re using own apartment in Pamporovo.
I went flight only with Balkan Tours this year who operate out of Belfast and Dublin. I'm sure it is possible to book flight only with other operators in GB.
Cost of flight was £269 and I was able to book and pay for ski packs including lessons, lift pass and ski hire and airport transfers through Balkan Tours before I went. All worked out cheaper than buying in resort. 6 day lift pass cost me £60.

re: places to buy and sites

I have been going to Pamporovo for 25 years. The original 7 hotels there have never been filled to capacity. Now there are another 40 hotels and about the same number of apartment blocks. Companies selling these are talking about improvements to the slopes and lifts. Who is going to do this? The Bulgarian bank based in Sofia that has owned the slopes and lifts since 1997 has done nothing in that time. If all promised rental was accomplished, there would be standing room only on the slopes.

Thanks Mal for the info on flights etc.

re: places to buy and sites

It is a slow process, but I am hoping it will definately happen in the future, I'm looking forward to the summer season too and exploring the bike routes that are already there.

Whaterver happens it's all exciting stuff to own our own little bit of paradise.
