with all due respect, i have had people phone me saying:

we are visiting the 7 wonderful bridges on Monday, a monastory on Tuesday, the caves on wednesday and would like to visit an orphanage on Thursday. this is not a day out for something to do. It is niether good for the children to see lots of strangers as not all strangers are good. The children do not speak English and visits can up-set them and often do.

I am just saying that the chldrens interests should always come first. Not everyone is good and visits should be aranged first with the necessary checks carried out on people wishing to enter institutes first. An institute is not a goggle box.

#Please think about the children this institute is not a zoo or a day out#

MAYBE PEOPLE WANT TO SEE FOR THEMSELVES THE ITEMS THEY HAND OVER GO TO THE RELAVENT CAUSE.


I have been over myself within the last few weeks to Pamps, I run my own company and am always keen to support charities. I work closely with organisations in both India and Korea and have seen first hand my donations being put to good use.

The Bulgarians, what I have seen of them, seem very keen to increase their own wealth and lifestyle, yet very reluctant to help run down orphanages in their own country.

My suggestion would be to keep updated photo's of donations of clothing, gifts etc, so people can see.
This way you might find less people bringing items out themselves, or on the other hand nothing at all.

The Orphanage I visit welcomes visits (phone call to Director) The Directors insists that it does the children good to see outsiders and it helps them to understand, that there are people in this world that care enough to go and see them. The main thing if somebody wants to go is to have the following injections. Typhoid, Tetanus and of course Hepatitas. I have taken some people from resort and it opened their eyes so much, the following year they went back as volounteers to help decorate. I know another family who go out for four weeks in the Summer and help run Summer Camps for these children. So a lot of good can come from the naked eye seeing instead of reading things. F.V.

Well Andie, there are photos of the children wearing some of the clothes bought for them. Also, every donation is listed and if you look at the amount of people who have donated could you imagine what would happen if they ALl turned up at different times. Amanda had only recently gained the confidence of the director and staff to let people in - the staff do not want outsiders. I used to take clothes out and hand over to Amanda and respected the difficult situation and this will be the first time I will be visiting the orphanage, with Andie. We will take lots of photos.
The problem is that when somebody turns up unannouced Amanda gets it in the ear from the director and the last thing we need is for her not to be allowed in.
Please try and understand the situation, not all the directors are pleasant and welcoming - even if they do receive our aid!
