pre book skis or not?

Hi,

I am going to Pampovoro on 19th Feb and I have been looking at pre booking a ski package (skis, boots, poles, lift pass and daily 4 hr lessons for c. £160 for 6 days). Is this worth doing or are we better off leaving it until we get there?

We are also thinking that we don't really want 4 hour lessons each day as that won't leave a lot of time for going off on our own.

We are not beginners but not expert skiiers so we feel that some ski school would be good!

Anybody got any advice as to what is best to do?

Thanks!

re: pre book skis or not?

Do it in advance before you go would be my strong advice or you could waste a lot of valuable time trying to sort it out when you get there. You also become a captive customer so you may not find it as cheap. If you've booked your holiday through a tour company you may well even get it cheaper by booking your requirements through them.

Do you know anything about the ski school? Is it worth booking the package with everything?

re: pre book skis or not?

What do you need to know - it very much depends who you book through. All I can say is they are brilliant throughout the resort and most speak great English. Ski School runs from 10am - 12 noon then 1 hour for lunch and then 1pm until 3pm. It may vairy from instructor to instructor by that should give you a guide.

hiya

Although ski school is for 4hrs a day you can go off for an afternoon on your own if you like. Also ski school finishes at 3 so you have time after lessons to ski on your own too. I am also out on 19th Feb and am just in process of booking my ski packs direct before I leave. If you can add a learn to ski package on with your tour company then that is generally cheaper although the rates I've been quoted for this year from the ski school are very competitive. re: pre book skis or not?

Ok that is great. I'm assuming if we book a package with 4 hours a day for the 6 days, we can just do the morning perhaps on some days. I haven't found any packages that only have the ski school for a couple of days.

Thanks for your help!

re: pre book skis or not?

yeah as I say they are very flexible so having a couple of afternoons off will be no problem.

Also keep your eyes out on the board for details of a meet which will be arranged whilst we are out there so you can come along and say hi to others out at same time Booze Booze

re: pre book skis or not?

We have booked hotel, flights, transfer separately as that way seemed cheaper than any of the tour companys. Staying at the Orlevtz (or something like that).
Thanks for the advice.
