It may be 10/15 minute walk to gondola - But with ski boots/poles & very dodgy pavements - You do need to be fit - You can't argue with that - And forget asking kids to walk and carry their stuff
Yes - we could have left our gear in the ski tent at the Gondola but unless you were at the Gondola by 8.25 am - You queued for an hour min
I admitted I'm one of the people who has defended Bansko as I thinks in terms of skiing holidays is value for money.
However, never in a month of Sundays would I buy a property in Bulgaria, I'm happy to take advantage of the cheap skiing whilst it lasts and then go somewhere else. I've skied throughout Europe and only done the half term on a couple of occasion and would not recommend it, its a mad house and some of the Brits can be the worst.
Exactly you should not 'whizz' on beginner slopes - this is a basic skiing rule that is unfortunately not enforced here. Do this in the States and they'll cut your ski pass up in front of you and throw you off the mountain. Skiing is a dangerous sport and there are rules designed to prevent the kind of injuries and deaths that happen every year. Ignoring them for your own personal pleasure is both supremely arrogant and extremely dangerous.
We were in Bansko half term week and I agree some of the worst bitching at the Gondola was Brits. I actually posted a report under "snow in village" which some may find interesting. We decided that our holiday was value for money, we paid £1500 less for half board than for our self-catering week in the Alps last year - the only downside for us was the Gondola.
DW my bubble was burst this year, I was in Bansko at Christmas and there was far too much building work, the ski schools were too big in both Pamps and Bansko - are you happy now I have been negative?
I am not going to get into a debate over what I do or not do not own, do you think Bulgarian people are nicer to me or is the walk from the Lion hotel easier for me all because I may or may or not own a property there!

I do not believe the above post was rude in any way, and do not believe I have ever been rude to you, so not sure why you chose to be rude to me purely because I am not a negative person....
no need replying I am not going to get into any discussion with you over this I am too busy being happy and loving Bulgaria...
no I cannot argue with that, I would not like to do it with ski's either I always left mine at the depot, but yes I can fully appreciate your point now - I would never walk that far with ski's etc....
I think people should be allowed to travel at whatever speed they wish on whatever slopes the wish, just so long as they are respectful of others.
I am an advanced skier and I am aware of the etiquette of the slopes. Etiquette whoever is different from a "rule" as there is no such "rule" that you cannot go fast on a blue slope.
One thing I have noticed this year is the marked increase in negative comments regarding all the Bulgarian Resorts. Could this be due to the snow conditions - Yes in part but, what this has done is highlight the torrid condition of the infrastructure.
Yes Bulgaria is cheap and I've met/know some great people there but.... You add all this development and extra people next year to the already creaking lift system and you are going to experience mayhem.

I'll be going back in the future but, only when things improve.
Surely it's down to common sense and courtesy? Just because you can go fast without coming a cropper doesn't mean you have the right to injure or terrify others who are not so confident or experienced. Everyone has to start somewhere!
