property in bansko verse the rest of euro ski apt's

hi everyone,
first time i have posted a comment....i have to say that i really enjoyed reading all the posts....i have been to bansko once to view buying a property and i was really impressed with the town.
however i am really worried that there is to much development and that it will loose its charm.
does anyone recomend buying a ski property in bansko over any of the other euro zone ski areas?

re: report - Bansko

The Owl Boy, although I enjoyed my holiday in Bansko I wouldn't buy a property in Bulgaria. I stayed in a new apartment for a week in Feb. I would say for a holiday it was find, but the workmanship was very poor.
We were the second people to use the apartment but already plugs were hanging of the walls and the shower was hanging of the wall to mention a couple of problems.

I believe buying a property could leave you with hefty maintainance charges and I also think supply will out strip demand, meaning no profit.

re: report - Bansko

Hi
I just returned form Bansko and I had the time of my life. I guess it depends a lot on where alse you have been before but as I was a first-timer - I reallly had nothing else to compare it to. I had fun and that's the most inportant thing. Yes, Bansko looks somewhat like a war zone but give it time and it will grow steadily and the buildings and general surroundings will mature.
I had lessons from Ulen ski school which were fantastic. I am rather un-coordinated but with the help of my instructor managed to head down the blue run by end of day 5. Not bad I thought. You're never going to go to a place where the people are always happy, the scenery always charming and the food always gourmet - it's good to keep in mind that part of Bansko's attractiveness is it's price and because it's still in the baby stages of development. If you can't stand waiting for the line at the Gondola, then get up early .If you get there by 8.30 am, you'll get first shot at the runs and miss the line up. Generally, I loved this tiny town and can highly recommend the Lion Hotel (and it's not a LONG, tiring walk to the gondola ) - why are you an a 'physical' holiday if you can't even make a ten minute walk around the corner?! Anyway, those of you going to Bansko, don't be discouraged by other people's comments - take them on board but the worst thing you can do is take all of our words as gospel - go there for yourself and decide what you will and make sure that you have fun.
PS - I REALLY need to find out the address for Ulen Ski and Showboard school in Bansko... can anyone help me? Im having such trouble.
Shelly x
