re: restaurants in borovets

ok, those who have been this season.. if you're facing the slopes, with the rila behind you, there are a few bars / restaurants to your left. the one at the end.. when i went a few years ago it was a cosy, traditional restaurant. it was run by a bulgarian chap (short - say 40 years old) and his sister (young and very attractive). the bulgarian man was a legend - absolutely obsessed with the premier league and was pretty much a walking encyclopedia on the subject.

does anyone know if this ...

i should add that his english was very good, but had quite a high pitched voice. we called 'how many times' because he loved to quiz us on our football knowledge, and he said with such a high pitched voice e.g. 'how many times .. have arsenal one the double'

i know who you mean..his name was steven and his sister was poppy.. steven got married and had a child a couple of years ago and is living in sofia.. he was a massive everton fan..
anyway, i was there two years ago and poppy and her dad were running a place opposite that kebab stand that always seems to have a pig on a spit roast..

ah no way! so he's not going to be there!? gutted. probably more gutted about that than if there is no snow..

steven rings a bell actually.

have you been to borovets quite a few times then? seems you're on first name terms with them. me and my mates were wondering if steven would be offended if one us got down on one knee to poppy and took back to england.

i keep in touch with poppy, in a loose sense of the word but she was over in the uk last year...we hooked up and went camping to the lake district for a few days..god she can talk!! as for getting down on one knee haha you'd have to get past her dad first..

Forget Boro hit Samakov town. We went to the Castle restaurant and ate like royalty. 6 adults and 1 child starters, main course food, drinks and some shots 80 leva inc the tip... the food was spot on too. better than the food in Boro however we did find the food in the Golden Horn excellent. Its on the rila slope at the bottom left hand side by the drag lift. Ivo is the boss there.
ps the sign is in Bulgarian.

the green king (turn left at the end of the main street) next to BJ's bar is gorgeous, especially the bbq steak, cooked to perfection. The sizzling platters smell decicious too, so much so that my sister in law bought one of the special pans from them. The young lad on the door is lovely but really quiet - give him a chance and try the place.
