rila not very good food luke warm staff not happy people cash machines dont work anywhere instructors not very helpful hotel noisy long waiting for ski lifts
didnt you think about eating out many good restaurants and bars, food good value and i never had a bad meal.you where right by plenty of good bars etc and people welcome you with a free shot and warm smile making youi very welcome, but it does work both ways you have to make an effort.
the only cash point working was in the flora hotel, we got back from the rila on sat and had a great week! shame about the snow but hey there was other things to do! back to bor on17th feb yippeee
We stayed in the Rila Borovets last week and it was ok. Yes the bath water was brown, yes the lobby was very smokey but the lifts in the hotel were fine. Frankos opposite does excellent pizza, Katies steak house was good and the drinks flow well in mamachitas, you can get cash from the crown exchange very easily using your card, Alan is right the cash point doesn't work. I didn't use their instructors but got 1-2-1 lessons for boarding from a guy called Freaky who is based at the Flora hotel ...

I didn't use their instructors but got 1-2-1 lessons for boarding from a guy called Freaky who is based at the Flora hotel and often found in frankos and he was great and I highly recommend him. Ski lifts were busy, nearly as long as the lift!! But that was mostly due to the lack of alternative pistes open. Overall it is Bulgaria and you get what you pay for!! We had a good time and we would go back again.......with more snow!!!
Never mind Alan, you could have been in a resort in the french alps where the instructors are renowned for being really friendly, there are no lift queues, the hotel rooms are tiny, no pistes open, and you can sit and drink beer and mulled wine for about £1 a glass!!!! - if skiing conditions are bad I know where I would rather be.
