school or private

Hi hve booked kids and me in the improver group this year? do they do that little test on the 1st afternoon up the mountain (last year in pamps & test was rubbish, all it did was split the morning groups into diff groups).
would like the 3 kids and me to stay together, is it wise to insist on this or just ski ourselves and booked private lessons as & when?
ps how much is a private lesson for 4?

thanks

re: school or private

In Borovets two weeks ago I paid £15 per hour for private Snowboarding instruction with a guy called Martin who worked for the Samakov Ski School. We booked him through our Crystal Rep and got a much better deal than going directly with the Ski School.

For £15 per hour I'd go private all the time. I learnt more in two hours with him than I did in 10 hours at my local dryslope

re: school or private

6 days private tuitions costs 450 euros roughly just over 300 pounds - for that you get you own ski instructor for the week - you can start at the time you choose stop when you choose etc etc - you can have the tuition for yourself or share it by including three other members of your family or friends

I have to agree that Private lessons are the best way to go, if you can afford to. But I would suggest from experience last week that you book an instrutor for an hour and see how you get on. If you don't get on ok you can then change instructor.

re: school or private

we skiid through school... did a test which did separate the morning group but we all bonded in our new group and it halved in size too. There were 5 of us and learned loads in the week!

However, when doing the test the woman choosing our groups was on the phone when place my other half, i ended up in the group lower than him so he swapped so we stayed together... all the way through the week our instructor was telling him to watch me as i was skiing much better than him! ???

Beats ...

Beats me... i either looked really nervous on the test or she asn't concentrating. We are hoping to afford private lessons next year as our friend will be joining us again and he isn't quite at our standard but we want to ski together... if not we'll just drop back into his group.

Have a fab time Very Happy

re: school or private

How can anybody possibly say that ski school is useless. In less than 1 week they get complete beginners skiing from top to bottom with confidence as well as meeting new friends and having the times of their lives.

Of course 1 x 1 is better for more attention to your own style, but it is completely out of order to rubbish one of the best ski schools in the whole of Europe.

re: school or private

In Pamps at the minute. We're using the Bulgaria ski school that we booked through Thomson and they're great. Our instructor is excellent and we're really learning a lot.
However, one lady in our group has booked a private instructor for her little girl as she was having problems with the group instruction. She did it through the head of the ski school, Bobbi, and has paid 30 pounds per day. She says that they have been fantastic and would reccomend them to anybody.
