ski wear-help

I need some advice on what to wear. I have found packages of ski jacket, salopetts, gloves from £75 to £200. What is the difference. We are only beginners and have never skied before so don't want to spend an absolute fortune if its something we are not going to do again. Is it sensible to just by the cheapest package and add a fleece and thermal base layer or should I be looking at a more expensive package as the cheaper ones aren't any good. I would have thought that as long as they are waterproof, windproof and keep you warm they should be ok. Can anyone advise please.

Also, we both wear glasses. Do they do goggles that fit over your glasses or would we be ok with our normal reactalites?

Thanks in advance. Di.

Do not spend a fortune on gear for your first trip. Tkmax have a great range in at the moment and it is worth checking out skiwear4less.com. I would however recomend spending a little more on goo quality gloves.

hi
Try Decathlon, just been and bought some new stuff at great prices.
This will be are 3rd time and expensive gear wouldn't make me ski any better( few more lessons might help with that one)

Hello,

Don't dismiss hiring skiwear for your first outing.

I go to Pamporovo every year with my 2 sons (we have an apartment), but because they are growing we hire jackets, salopettes etc. for them and will continue to do so until they have stopped growing. I don't want to be buying stuff which will only fit them for one or two seasons.

Google skiwear hire and look for for somewhere nearby.

Just another consideration.

TK Maxx gets my vote every time. I buy myself gear in their sales so it is even cheaper, and for son I used to buy the gear, he'd wear it two years in a row outgrow it, then I'd sell it on ebay. Usually got my money back whilst handing someone else a bargain as well as it was only worn for two weeks. Ebay is another place to go as people don't allways take to it and so they then sell on, although I guess it may be taking a chance. I would also advise to get good gloves and if you can get ...

I would also advise to get good gloves and if you can get the ski socks with the reinforced panel at the front (as opposed to ski tubes) they help if your boots tend to rub your shins. Hope you enjoy you holiday.

re: ski wear-help

Bought cheap-ish stuff the first time we went for exactly the same reason you mentioned - if you don't like it, you've wasted your money. I would, however, recommend decent gloves, they're not that expensive - cold hands can ruin your day in an instant. Decathlon's own range is reasonably priced, we had no issues with it, and their website is really helpful explaining what the terminology all mean,s on things like how waterproof gear is, etc.
